INTERESTED OR COMMITTED?

The question I am putting before you today is simply this, Are you interested in becoming successful and accomplishing your goals, visions and ambitions OR are you committed to becoming successful and achieving all you want in life.

There is a core difference between being interested in something and being committed to something. It is understanding these key differences that will enable you make a positive change in your life.

I am sure that if you ask most people if they are interested in becoming Olympic champions or world class athletes they would say, Sure why not? Then when you delve into explaining what it takes along with the grueling and time consuming routines quite a number if people will simply back off and say, I'm no cut for that.

It takes being committed on a day to day, minute by minute effort to actualise  the  dream of becoming an Olympian.

Also, if you asked someone if the wanted to becoming a Doctor, Lawyer, Accountant etc. they could say yes but, to make it happen you have to take steps that will get you there which might require you to get a degree in the subject and/or work towards professional certification.

We begin to realise that there is no goal we need to actualise that will produce itself. We have to take conscious steps that eventually will make our dreams come true. It is not sufficient to even write your goals down or make declarations or seek advice. Until you start putting it all to work in achieving what you want to achieve, nothing will happen.

The question then is how do you commit to your dreams?

  • you have to be passionate and motivated about achieving your goals
  • your dreams have to be broken down into goals
  • Every goal has to be broken down into milestones
  • Celebrate every milestone you achieve
  • Never give up
  • Do not make excuses about why something won't work. You don't know until you try it out.
Whatever dream you have it is time to get to work and start taking daily steps that will get you closer to achieving it.
