Are we there yet?

Image
The expectation that a child carries as they are travelling on a journey is often conveyed in that simple question. Are we there yet? It conveys expectation, excitement, hope, joy and so much and of course disappointment when you say, Not yet.  We are approaching a New Year which I am sure on a level carries its own excitement and expectations. Sometimes we get so enthused that we, just like the little child are asking, Are we there yet? The question to be posed though is not about the journey but rather, the destination. When we get there what activities are we expected to engage in, what is the purpose of the journey and what sort of accommodation should we be expecting. Unlike the child, that is buried in expectations we however have a much higher responsibility to ourselves that we must undertake entering a new year, with as much direction and clarity as we can afford. It is scarcely sufficient to have only hope and expectations for the new year which are ...

Bear Your Yoke........J Ezuh

One of the greatest tragedies in life is meeting an old person who cannot afford their upkeep in the later stages of their life. I spoke with a retired lady and found out that she is not able to put her heating on, because of how expensive it is. Mind you the weather is at least 3 degrees at night time. I was simply filled with sadness and worry for her health. This has lead me into a deep ponder and a rethink on the limitations that a place on myself. The worry on how to establish my business, asking myself about the scale-ability and allowing my fears to hold me back. The question though is if I can't get on with it now, when? The Greatest Book on earth the Bible says, It is good for a young man to bear his burden in his youth. Lamentations 3:27 This simply means, the time to work hard is when you are young. It is being proven that relying on the government to cater for us when we are old is probably going to be extinct at some point. With the pressures on the public f...

INTERESTED OR COMMITTED?

Image
The question I am putting before you today is simply this, Are you interested in becoming successful and accomplishing your goals, visions and ambitions OR are you committed to becoming successful and achieving all you want in life. There is a core difference between being interested in something and being committed to something. It is understanding these key differences that will enable you make a positive change in your life. I am sure that if you ask most people if they are interested in becoming Olympic champions or world class athletes they would say, Sure why not? Then when you delve into explaining what it takes along with the grueling and time consuming routines quite a number if people will simply back off and say, I'm no cut for that. It takes being committed on a day to day, minute by minute effort to actualise  the  dream of becoming an Olympian. Also, if you asked someone if the wanted to becoming a Doctor, Lawyer, Accountant etc. they could say yes ...

You are putting in so much effort but, you don't appear to be advancing beyond where you are. Now just imagine that you have just met a road block in your journey towards your destination. You have a few choices here Turn back  Stand at the road block lost in deep thought Find an alternative route to your destination Smash the road block down with every tool you have available Whatever the action you decide to take, it has profound consequences for your dream. If you decide to quit, you may never pick up the courage to start again. Not Now? When?

Image
The death bed of dreams, ambitions and plans is lack of action. We can have big dreams, work out a plan and map out all the possible strategies and scenarios. At the end of the day if we do not take any step towards actually making the plans come to life, they remain dead. No matter how much you visualise your book with its topics, themes, plots and even the front cover. Until you actually sit down and start putting the words on paper the book will never ever come to life. This goes for pretty much anything. A degree can only be attained by going through the schooling process. A business can only be built by starting one.  There are so many reasons that makes one not put their dreams into action such as timing, resources, fear, procrastination to mention a few. However, it is note worthy that whatever the reasons that prevent us from taking action, there is never a time we would have the perfect conditions to pursue our dreams.  There will always be something ...
